Course introduction: Neglect is the persistent failure to meet a child’s basic physical and / or psychological needs, likely to result in the serious impairment of the child’s health or development.

This three part course provides an overview, so you can learn the signs and symptoms of neglect and what to do if you suspect neglect, an exercise and scenarios section, and a quiz section.
 

Course objectives:
  • Define neglect and the effects it has on children  
  • Explain who neglects children and why it happens  
  • Recognise the signs and symptoms of neglect  
  • Identify how neglect can coincide with other types of child abuse  
  • Describe (and follow) the courses of action you must take if you suspect someone is being neglected
